The festival of love Holi is also known as colors festival. This is the festival of Hindu but also celebrated by Non-Hindu also not only in India but also in many part of south Asia and also in many communities. As a spring celebration of love and colors this is not only celebrated in India or Hindu based countries but also spread in parts of Europe and North America. Holi is very ancient religious festival of Hindus.
History Of Holi and Holika Dahan:-
Holi is celebrated on the Phalguna Purnima that is on Full Moon day at the approach of blankagert. But the date varies every year because it is celebrated as per Hindu calendar. This festival has many back reason for celebration like for the arrival of spring, end of winter and most important for the victory of good over evil(this is the ancient reason).
This festival start in one night before when Holika Bonfire is celebrated where all people get together sing songs and dance around the bonfire. In the next day people forget all their hate and ill heart thinking and get together for the celebrate this festival of victory of good over evil with great joy by playing with colors to each others. This is the day when all poor or rich, friend or enemy, different caste or sub-caste get together and play Holi with colors without any hesitation. Anyone and everyone is fairly take part in its celebration most of the heart of many girls and boys took part in playing games and sometimes it start the love and joy , that means we can say that this is the festival which may get together two hearts so it is called as festival of love.
History Of Holi And Holika Dahan :-
The ancient History of this festival is very old. The name Holi arises by the name of sister (Holika) of demon king Hiranyakashipu. This king got boon to be as virtually indestructible, he almost take the boon of life and with this special power he grew arrogant and start feeling that he is god and ordered everyone to worship him instead of Lord Vishnu.
But between every dark always there a small light which was is own son Prahlada who disagree to this and remained devotee of Lord Vishnu (Hirnayakashipu hates lord Visnu for assassination of his brother by Vishnu). He decided to give Prahalada a cruel punishment to have a lesson to all people but he cannot successful as no any punishment affected the boy. Finally the aunt of Prahalada tricked him into sitting Pyre with her. Holika wears a cloak to protect her from fire but Prahalada not. As the fire roared the cloak flew from Holika and encased Prahalada which survived him and Holika get burned. This bonfire is a reminder of the symbolic victory of good over evil and of Prahalada over Hiranayakashipu. The day after Holika bonfire is celebrated as Holi.
